Shaheed El Hafed, April 17, 2026 (SPS) – The Polisario Front reaffirmed that a just and final solution to the conflict must be based on the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination and independence.
In a statement concluding the work of the 9th session of the National Secretariat, the Polisario Front reiterated the sincere willingness of the Sahrawi side to ensure the success of ongoing efforts, while stressing that a just, final, and lasting solution must rest on clear and essential foundations. These include guaranteeing the inalienable, non-negotiable, and non-transferable right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and independence through a free, transparent, and democratic process in accordance with relevant United Nations General Assembly resolutions.
The National Secretariat also emphasized the Sahrawi people’s firm rejection of all partial or inadequate solutions aimed at legitimizing the occupation and bypassing their legitimate national aspirations for freedom, independence, and the completion of sovereignty over their entire national territory.
It further reminded all states and governments that achieving peace, security, and stability in the region cannot be accomplished through unilateral approaches or by supporting policies of expansion and changing borders by force, but rather through full adherence to international law and the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter, including the right of peoples to self-determination.
