Speaker of Algeria’s National People’s Assembly reaffirms Algeria’s firm Support for Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination

Wilaya of Auserd, April 10, 2026 (SPS) – The Speaker of Algeria’s National People’s Assembly, Mr. Ibrahim Boughali, reaffirmed on Thursday, in a speech delivered in the Wilaya of Auserd at the Sahrawi refugee camps on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the proclamation of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, that commemorating this anniversary represents a moment of loyalty and solidarity with the struggle of a people that has remained steadfast in upholding its legitimate rights to self-determination and independence, in accordance with the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.

The speech was delivered on his behalf by Mr. Miloud Tissouh, President of the Algeria–Western Sahara Parliamentary Friendship Group.

Mr. Boughali highlighted this important historical milestone, which reflects the resilience of a proud people and their legitimate struggle for freedom, dignity, and independence, reiterating Algeria’s unwavering solidarity and support for the Sahrawi people’s struggle until the dawn of freedom rises over Western Sahara.

He stressed that enabling the Sahrawi people to exercise their legitimate right to self-determination and independence constitutes the fundamental path and the only solution to achieving a just and lasting peace in the region and across the African continent, calling for completing the decolonization process within the framework of international legitimacy.
