Le Havre (France), March 15, 2026 (SPS) – The French association “Camion Citerne pour les Sahraouis” (Water Tanker for the Sahrawis), based in the Normandy region and engaged for several decades alongside the Sahrawi people, held its annual General Assembly on Friday in the city of Le Havre, in the presence of its members, local elected officials, and supporters of the Sahrawi cause.
The meeting elected a new leadership of the association and drew up a program of activities for 2026. The first step of this program plans the dispatch, at the end of March, of a delegation from the association to the Sahrawi refugee camps to strengthen ties of solidarity and evaluate humanitarian cooperation projects.
The association is notably twinned with the Daïra of Laguerra in the Sahrawi refugee camps and participates every year in the “Holidays in Peace” program, through which it hosts, during the summer, a group of Sahrawi children from this Daïra to spend several weeks in France with supportive host families.
Speaking on the occasion, the representative of the Polisario Front in France, Mohamed Ali Zerouali, expressed the gratitude of the Sahrawi people for the constant solidarity of the association and its members. He praised their humanitarian commitment as well as their efforts to raise awareness in France about the just cause of the Sahrawi people.
He also paid special tribute to the French families who host Sahrawi children every year as part of the “Holidays in Peace” program, stressing that these children become true “ambassadors of peace” and help strengthen human and fraternal ties between the Sahrawi and French peoples.
The association’s president, Ms. Nadine Lefrançois, reaffirmed the organization’s determination to continue and strengthen its support for the Sahrawi people, calling for continued solidarity and awareness-raising actions in France.
