Tindouf (Algeria), February 25, 2026 (SPS) – The University of Tindouf hosted today, Wednesday, an international scientific conference on the Sahrawi cause under the theme: “Legal, Geopolitical and Economic Perspectives in a Changing and Highly Polarized International Context.”
The international conference is organized in cooperation between the University of Tindouf and the University of Tifariti, within the framework of the academic and scientific cooperation agreement linking the two universities. It is attended by a Sahrawi delegation led by the Minister of Education and Vocational Training, member of the National Secretariat, Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar; the President of the University of Tifariti, Central Director of Higher Education, Moulay Emhamed Ibrahim; in addition to members of the Sahrawi government , officials from the University of Tindouf.
The event was also attended by the authorities of the wilaya of Tindouf, represented by the Secretary-General of the wilaya, the Algerian Committee in Solidarity with the Sahrawi People, as well as delegations and personalities interested in the Sahrawi cause from various nationalities.
The event opened with a speech by the Rector of the University of Tindouf, Bouderiasa Bouazza, who welcomed the participants and praised the struggle of the Sahrawi people and their just cause. He noted that the Sahrawi issue has witnessed important developments at all levels, which confirms the strong commitment of the Sahrawi people to their inalienable right to self-determination and independence.
The Minister of Education and Vocational Training expressed his gratitude to the University of Tindouf and its organizers for holding this conference, noting that highlighting the Sahrawi cause from various perspectives by leading intellectuals reflects the importance the issue holds for them, especially in this highly complex context.
Abdelkader Taleb Omar emphasized the need for such conferences to help enlighten the public and clarify the essence of the Sahrawi cause.
For his part, the Rector of the University of Tifariti, Moulay Emhamed Ibrahim, pointed out that holding this conference in conjunction with the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the proclamation of the Sahrawi Republic—an irreversible reality—comes within a delicate political, international, regional, and national context characterized by rapid changes and transformations. This, he stressed, places a greater responsibility on academics and researchers to analyze these phenomena, understand their various dimensions, and assess their impact on the Sahrawi cause.
