Managua (Nicaragua), February 16, 2026 (SPS) – The Embassy of the Sahrawi Republic in Nicaragua organized ceremony on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the proclamation of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic.
The event was held at the headquarters of the National Assembly of Nicaragua, in the presence of the President of the National Assembly, Dr. Gustavo Porras; the Nicaraguan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Valdrack Jaentschke; the Mayor of Managua, Reyna Rueda; as well as the Ambassador of the Sahrawi Republic to Nicaragua, Wali Ali Salem.
The ceremony was also attended by representatives of various government institutions, the Nicaragua–Sahrawi Republic Friendship Group, members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Nicaragua, and local media outlets.
On this occasion, the Sahrawi Ambassador to Nicaragua reviewed the struggle of the Sahrawi people over five decades, recalling the heavy sacrifices made in pursuit of their legitimate right to freedom, independence, and the end of foreign occupation.
The Sahrawi diplomat reaffirmed the determination of the Sahrawi people, under the leadership of the Polisario Front, their sole and legitimate representative, to continue defending the sovereignty and independence of their homeland by all legitimate means.
