Shaheed El Hafed, February 16, 2026 (SPS) – The Member of the National Secretariat, President of the National Council, Mr. Hamma Salama, received this Monday at the headquarters of the National Council an important German delegation that included the President of the Bremen Parliament and members of the German Solidarity Association with the Sahrawi People.
During the meeting, the President of the National Council welcomed the German delegation, highlighting the depth of the bilateral relations linking the National Council and the Bremen Parliament.
He praised the German solidarity movement with the Sahrawi people in advocating for the last colony in Africa.
The President of the National Council also addressed the latest developments in the Sahrawi issue in light of the current political and media momentum, as well as the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the proclamation of the Sahrawi Republic.
Mr. Hamma Salama provided a comprehensive briefing on the history of the National Council, the stages of its development, its supervisory and legislative functions, noting that the Council has approved a large number of national laws, agreements, protocols, international treaties, and government program projects. He also highlighted its diplomatic role through parliamentary friendship committees with numerous countries.
For her part, the President of the Bremen Parliament expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the National Council for the warm reception, emphasizing that the visit comes within the framework of solidarity with the Sahrawi people and their right to self-determination.
She reaffirmed her commitment, together with her team, to continue raising awareness about the Sahrawi cause and defending justice, human rights, and the right to self-determination in Western Sahara.
