Havana (Cuba), February 03, 2026 (SPS) – The Ambassador of the Sahrawi Republic to Cuba, Brahim Mohamed Mahmoud, renewed the close cooperation ties with the historic Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) during a working visit.
The meeting was held with the President of the Institute, Fernando González Llort.
During the visit, both parties exchanged views on the current situation in Cuba and the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR). They reviewed the aspects of their respective national resistance against neo-colonial policies and reaffirmed the steadfast solidarity between the two brotherly peoples.
The meeting also addressed the ongoing preparations for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the proclamation of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic. This milestone marks a pivotal historical moment in the Sahrawi people's long struggle for their right to self-determination and independence. This comes at a critical time when colonial powers are attempting to impose and sustain their colonial projects, and the Sahrawi people face the expropriation of their lands by the Moroccan monarchy.
The meeting was attended by officials from the Embassy of the Sahrawi Republic in Cuba and the Africa Department of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples.
