Smara Wilaya, 25 January 2026 (SPS) – The Ministry of Education and Vocational Training commemorated the International Day of Education, which this year coincided with the Kindergarten Day, under the theme “Early Education as the Foundation for Building the Future.”
The national event was hosted by the National Primary and Secondary Education School Simón Bolívar.
The commemoration ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Education and Vocational Training, member of the National Secretariat, Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar.
The event was attended by the ministry’s central staff, kindergarten inspectors, and preschool directors at the national level, as well as partners working in the field of early childhood. These included representatives from the University of Madrid and the Cuban mission at the institution, in addition to partner organizations in the education sector—highlighting the importance the Sahrawi state attaches to international cooperation in supporting the education system.
In his address on the occasion, the Minister underscored the pivotal role played by kindergartens in laying the foundations of Sahrawi education and upbringing, stressing that education at this stage constitutes the first building block in shaping the child’s personality, instilling national values, reinforcing cultural identity, and preparing children psychologically and cognitively for subsequent stages of education.
