Shaheed El Hafed, 09 January 2026 (SPS) – The Minister of Education and Vocational Training, member of the National Secretariat, Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar, received a delegation from the International Organization for Child Protection (UNICEF), headed by Ms. Catherine, Director of the organization’s office in Algeria, accompanied by her staff and the Director of the organization’s office in Tindouf working in the Sahrawi refugee camps.
The meeting discussed areas of cooperation and support provided by the international organization to the Sahrawi education system, as well as coordination with other partner organizations and associations supporting the education sector. It also addressed ways to overcome the measures related to the reduction of aid adopted by most supporting organizations, which have affected several sectors, including education and vocational training.
During the meeting, the Minister expressed his gratitude to UNICEF and all partners who made significant efforts to overcome challenges and cover the shortfall related to incentives during the first term of the academic year, while continuing to intensify efforts to cover the deficit throughout the 2025–2026 academic year, considering this a key factor in ensuring the regular functioning of the education system.
