Algiers, October 22, 2025 (SPS) – Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, held a phone conversation Monday evening with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov.
According to a statement from the ministry, the communication falls within the framework of the two ministers’ established tradition of regular consultations on international and regional issues of mutual interest, in light of the strong strategic partnership between the two countries.
The two sides also exchanged views on the main issues on the agenda of the UN Security Council during Russia’s presidency of this central UN body, foremost among them the issue of decolonization in Western Sahara, on which a resolution is expected to be issued before the end of the month.
