
Addis Ababa, 18 October 2025 (SPS) – The Minister of Education and Vocational Training, member of the National Secretariat, and current Chairperson of the African Union’s Specialized Technical Committee on Education, Science, Technology, Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar, concluded Africa Skills Week 2025, held from 13 to 17 October in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.
In his closing remarks, delivered alongside H.E. Professor Gaspar Banyankimbona, Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, and Mr. Teshalé Berecha, Minister of Technical and Vocational Education and Training of Ethiopia, Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar expressed his congratulations on the great success of Africa Skills Week. He extended special appreciation to the Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology and Innovation and his team, and through them, to the African Union Commission for this significant achievement—particularly the launch of the Continental Strategy for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (2025–2034), aimed at strengthening Africa’s industrial future.
He also thanked the Government and people of Ethiopia for providing all the favorable conditions for the success of this vital continental event, commending the country’s remarkable progress in various fields. Furthermore, he acknowledged the partners who continue to support the implementation of the Second Decade Continental Education Strategy, in pursuit of achieving the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
“We return to our countries with great satisfaction, armed with plans and programs capable of driving the desired transformation through inclusive industrialization, sustainable growth, and shared prosperity—ensuring social justice and democracy in our nations,” said Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar.
He added: “This will further strengthen Africa’s standing among nations, enabling our continent to play its rightful role in international policies and global trends undergoing major transformations—transformations that require the mobilization and unification of all efforts so that we can be active participants and shape our own future with our own hands.”
Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar affirmed that the Government of the Sahrawi Republic will be guided by the Continental Strategy for Technical and Vocational Education and Training, and will spare no effort in overcoming obstacles in pursuit of a free and prosperous Africa.
