Algiers, 28 September 2025 (SPS) – Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs Ahmed Attaf held bilateral talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) Mohamed Yeslem Beissat on Sunday, in New York, where he is attending the High-Level Meetings of the UN General Assembly, the Algerian ministry said in a statement.
"The meeting focused, in a spirit of consultation and coordination, on developments in the Western Sahara issue, ahead of the upcoming UN events in this respect, both at the level of the UN General Assembly and the Security Council," the statement said.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to "look at the positions expressed at the general debate of the UN General Assembly, in support of the inalienable and imprescriptible right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination, in line with the principles of international law and the relevant resolutions of the United Nations."
