
Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), September 06, 2025 (SPS) - The Sahrawi Republic participated today, Saturday, in the joint meeting of African health ministers and their counterparts from Caribbean countries, held at the headquarters of the African Union in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.
The Sahrawi Republic was represented in this meeting, which is part of the CARICOM Summit activities aimed at enhancing South-South cooperation in the health field and coordinating common positions in international forums on global health issues, by the Permanent Delegate to the African Union, Mr. Lamine Baali, representing the Minister of Public Health, and the Ambassador in charge of the Caribbean region, Mr. Mohamed Zroug.
The participation of the Sahrawi Republic in this event reflects its firm commitment to joint African action and its keenness to actively contribute to shaping health policies at the continental and international levels. It also highlights its role in supporting global health issues by strengthening the capacities of basic health systems and building sustainable community care mechanisms.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the Sahrawi delegation held several side meetings with Caribbean country delegations, discussing ways to enhance joint health cooperation, exchange experiences in the fields of community health care, and coordinate positions in international forums. This contributes to strengthening South-South solidarity bonds and enhancing the presence of the Sahrawi Republic in regional and international health policies.
