Shaheed El-Hafed, September 4, 2025 (SPS) - The Political and Administrative Unit of Shaheed El-Hafed expressed its concern over the deteriorating health of the Sahrawi civilian prisoner, Mohamed Hassana Bourial.

In a statement, the Political and Administrative Unit pointed out that the 48-hour warning hunger strike undertaken by prisoner Bourial, which began on Wednesday, is a cry of protest against the harsh and inhumane conditions he endures. These include his solitary confinement since May 2018, subjection to degrading treatment, and deprivation of his most basic rights, such as family visits.

The statement added that this constitutes a blatant violation of international laws and humanitarian conventions that guarantee the rights of prisoners.

The statement strongly condemned these repressive practices, considering them part of a systematic policy aimed at suppressing free Sahrawi voices that defend our people's right to self-determination and independence.

The statement considered the Moroccan authorities' disregard for his legitimate demands and their abandonment of the promises made to him as confirmation of the arbitrary nature of this detention.

The statement affirmed that the steadfastness of prisoner Bourial and all Sahrawi political prisoners in the prisons of the Moroccan occupation is a source of pride and inspiration for us, and that their cause will remain at the forefront of our struggle until victory and freedom are achieved.
