
Ait Melloul, September 2, 2025 (SPS) - Sahrawi civilian prisoner, Mohamed Hassane Ahmed Salem Bourial, from the Gdeim Izik group, currently held at Ait Melloul 2 local prison near Agadir, Morocco, will begin a warning hunger strike for 48 hours on Wednesday and Thursday, in protest against the harsh conditions of detention and solitary confinement and inhumane treatment.
According to the Sahrawi Prisoners' Protection Association, the political prisoner is undertaking the hunger strike to protest the illegal practices he has endured. The latest of these was being denied visits.
He is also protesting the neglect of all his demands for improved detention conditions, an end to all forms of racial discrimination, and the termination of his solitary confinement. He has been in solitary confinement since May 2018, when he was at Tiflet 2 local prison, and for the last few years at Ait Melloul 2 local prison.
