Shaheed El Hafed, July 29, 2025 (SPS) – The Sahrawi people are preparing to commemorate the 50th anniversary of National Unity amid successive victories achieved by the national cause, which embodies a struggle marked by numerous gains and triumphs.
During a meeting yesterday, Monday, chaired by the Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, President of the Republic, Mr. Brahim Ghali, the Permanent Bureau of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front recalled that the Sahrawi people, through decades of resistance, heroic struggle, and legendary resilience, are celebrating historic occasions that reflect the significance of their victories and achievements. These include the 50th anniversary of National Unity and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the National Council, which formed the first Sahrawi government. It was during this time that the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) was proclaimed—a state for all Sahrawis, men and women, wherever they may be—whose 50th anniversary will be commemorated next year.
The proclamation was made by the founding leader, the martyr El-Ouali Mustapha Sayed, whose 50th martyrdom anniversary will also be observed on June 9, 2026, coinciding with Martyrs' Day.
National Unity, established on October 12, stands as a historic event that united the Sahrawi people and consolidated their efforts into a single force to confront the invasion and all conspiracies aimed at erasing their existence.
