Logroño (Spain), 23 July 2025 (WAS) – The Spanish municipality of Logroño organized a welcoming ceremony in honor of Sahrawi children arriving from THE refugee camps as part of the Holidays in Peace program, coordinated by solidarity movements in cooperation with the Polisario Front’s representation in the region.
The children were welcomed by the Mayor of Logroño, accompanied by members of his government team, representatives of political parties in the municipal council, the president of the Association of Friends of the Sahrawi People, numerous host families, and media outlets.
The Mayor, who warmly greeted the children from Western Sahara, thanked the host families and the friendship association for their efforts in providing these children with the opportunity to enjoy a peaceful holiday away from the intense summer heat of the refugee camps.
He reaffirmed that the municipality and its elected officials would always stand by the Sahrawi people and their just cause, recalling a recent institutional delegation visit to the institutions of the Sahrawi state.
For his part, Mr. Mohamed Labat Mustafa, the Polisario Front’s representative in La Rioja, praised the significant role played by the "Messengers of Peace" and ambassadors of the Sahrawi cause in raising awareness about their people’s struggle during their stay with host families.
