Wilaya of Boujdour, June 17, 2025 (SPS) – The Sahrawi Youth Union (UJSARIO) organized an intellectual symposium today, Tuesday, on the historic Zemla Uprising.
The event was attended by the President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, accompanied by Prime Minister Bouchraya Hammoudi Bayoun, Emrabih El Mami, Head of the Political Organization Secretariat, Hamma Salama, President of the Sahrawi National Council, as well as members of the National Secretariat and the government.
The symposium was moderated by Hayaye Ahmed Baba, who delivered a presentation on the 55th anniversary of the historic Zemla Uprising (June 17, 1970). It featured testimonies from key figures who witnessed that era.
Titled "The Historic Zemla Uprising: A Memory That Defies Oblivion," the symposium focused on the interactive discussion of the vanguard movement’s ideology, led by the late Mohamed Brahim Bassiri.
During the session, members of the Permanent Bureau of the National Secretariat delivered interventions highlighting the uprising’s significance for the Sahrawi people.
