Sahrawi delegation meets with Mauritanian political party leaders

Nouakchott (Mauritania), June 3, 2025 (SPS) – A Sahrawi delegation, led by Mr. Hamma Salama, President of the National Council, member of the National Secretariat, met with leaders of Mauritanian political parties on the sidelines of his official visit to Mauritania.

In this context, Hamma Salama was received by Mr. Messaoud Ould Boulkheir, President of the Mauritanian People's Progressive Alliance. The meeting was an opportunity for the party leader to reaffirm his full, steadfast, and unwavering support for the struggle of the Sahrawi people. He praised the Polisario Front's model in state-building and commended the endurance, courage, and sacrifices of the Sahrawi people in their fight for freedom.

For his part, Hamma Salama expressed appreciation for the party's efforts in strengthening the fraternal ties between the Sahrawi and Mauritanian peoples. He also commended Mauritania's progress, prosperity, and democratic achievements under its wise leadership, as recently demonstrated by the election of its candidate as President of the African Development Bank (AfDB).

The delegation was also received by Sidi Ahmed Ould Mohamed, leader of Mauritania’s ruling party, El Insaf. Discussions focused on brotherly relations and cooperation between the two countries and ways to enhance them in the shared interest of both peoples.

The President of El Insaf reiterated Mauritania’s firm stance in support of just causes, its adherence to UN charters and international law, and its commitment to maintaining good relations with all parties.

Both sides emphasized their determination to advance relations between El Insaf and the Polisario Front in service of the Mauritanian and Sahrawi peoples’ interests.

The head of the Sahrawi delegation also held several other meetings, including with Mr. Hamadi Ould Sid’El Moustapha, President of the Tawassoul Party, and Mr. Ahmed Ould Daddah, President of the Rally for Democracy.
