Shaheed El Hafed – The Sahrawi National Human Rights Commission (CONASADH) condemned the Moroccan authorities' decision to prevent members of the Freedom March from completing their journey to Kenitra Prison, where Sahrawi political prisoners from the Gdeim Izik Group are held.
In a statement obtained by SPS, the Sahrawi NGO denounced the Moroccan occupying state’s repeated and unpunished practice of expelling and preventing international observers from visiting and entering the Occupied Zones of the Sahrawi Republic, where the repressive policies of the occupation continue against any Sahrawi citizen demanding freedom, dignity, the right to life, and independence.
Following the expulsion of the Freedom March members, CONASADH condemned the unjust decision to prevent them from completing their march to Kenitra Prison and expressed full solidarity with the members of the international delegation, including Ms. Claude Mangan, as well as all Sahrawi political prisoners.
In this regard, CONASADH "condemns the shameful silence of the European Union Commission and the Spanish government, which are complicit in the occupation by abandoning their legal and historical responsibilities toward the Sahrawi people."
It also calls on the international community to take urgent measures to ensure respect for human rights in the Occupied Zones of Western Sahara and "demands the establishment of a UN mechanism to monitor and report on the human rights situation in Western Sahara, as well as to open the Occupied Zones to parliamentarians, observers, international human rights organizations, and the media."
The Sahrawi NGO urges the lifting of the "military, security, and media blockade, the removal of the separation wall dividing the Sahrawi people, compliance with international legitimacy resolutions, and the implementation of UN regulations regarding the decolonization of Western Sahara."
Finally, it demands the immediate and unconditional release of all Sahrawi human rights defenders and political prisoners in Moroccan jails, as well as the disclosure of the whereabouts of all missing Sahrawis.
