
Shaheed El Hafed, May 24, 2025 (SPS) – Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar officially assumed his duties as Minister of Education and Vocational Training on Saturday, succeeding Mr. Khatri Addouh, who has been reassigned to other responsibilities. This transition follows a recent decree issued by President Brahim Ghali, restructuring key positions within the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front and the Sahrawi government.
The handover ceremony was overseen by Prime Minister Mr. Bouchraya Hammoudi Bayoun, in the presence of Mr. Fadli Ali Bouya, Minister Delegate for Oversight, Inspection, Public Property, and Relations with the National Council, Mr. Medi Hayaye, Minister Delegate for Vocational Training, Senior officials from the ministry.
In his remarks, Khatri Addouh, a member of the National Secretariat, reviewed the ministry’s achievements during his tenure and extended gratitude to the staff for their dedication.
Prime Minister Bouchraya Hammoudi Bayoun reiterated the government’s full support for the new minister, emphasizing the critical role of the education sector in nation-building. He called for "tireless efforts to advance this vital institution."
New Minister Abdelkader Taleb Omar pledged to uphold established programs, assess progress, and build on the legacy of the Sahrawi martyrs to fulfill the ministry’s mission. He expressed readiness to collaborate with educators and stakeholders, stating, "I have full confidence in the sector’s components and our respected partners, who are essential to driving progress."
The ministry staff presented Khatri Addouh with a certificate of appreciation in recognition of his contributions to developing the education sector.
This appointment follows President Brahim Ghali’s reshuffle, which also named Taleb Omar as Member of the Permanent Bureau of the National Secretariat, Chair of the Social Affairs Committee, Minister of Education and Vocational Training.
