Shaheed Al-Hafed, May 6, 2025 (SPS) – The Syrian presidency has denied the existence of any current or past information or evidence supporting Moroccan claims regarding the presence of Sahrawi fighters in Syria or its prisons, whether now or previously during Bashar al-Assad’s rule.
The Syrian presidency affirmed the content of the statement issued by the office of the Secretary-General the Polisario Front. The official Syrian clarification was published on "Damascus" website, affiliated with the Damascus Foundation for Studies, Culture, and Development.
The source clarified that all detainees following military operations were Syrians involved in war crimes, and that if any foreign elements had been arrested, the Syrian authorities would have officially contacted their respective governments.
Earlier, the Polisario Front had issued an official statement from the office of its Secretary-General, categorically rejecting the allegations in the report and describing them as "media fabrication" aimed at distorting the struggle of the Sahrawi people. The statement accused a German journalist of Moroccan origin of being behind the report, considering it part of an organized Moroccan propaganda campaign against the Polisario Front.
The Polisario Front reiterated its complete rejection of attempts to link the Sahrawi people’s struggle to terrorism, considering such allegations an affront to a people whose struggle is internationally recognized.
