Shaheed Al-Hafed, April 27, 2025 (SPS) – Sahrawi civil society today organized a solidarity stand in support of Sahrawi political prisoners held in Moroccan jails. Representatives of mass organizations, human rights associations, and humanitarian groups announced their participation in the international solidarity march for Sahrawi political prisoners.

The march aims to expose the grave violations suffered by the Sahrawi people in Moroccan prisons and to demand the immediate and unconditional release of all Sahrawi political prisoners, as well as justice for victims of torture and arbitrary detention.

In a statement concluding their solidarity stand, Sahrawi civil society members declared their unwavering support for the prisoners and their families—particularly the Gdeim Izik group and detained students—who endure harsh and inhumane conditions.

Participants strongly condemned torture, unfair trials, and the appalling detention conditions in Moroccan prisons, which violate basic detention standards and international conventions, including the Fourth Geneva Convention and the Convention Against Torture.

The statement issued a humanitarian appeal to freedom-loving people worldwide to join the international campaign for the freedom of Sahrawi political prisoners, intensify efforts to break the wall of silence surrounding their suffering, amplify their voices in international forums, and pressure their governments to halt financial and military support for the Moroccan occupation.

Sahrawi civil society members reaffirmed that their struggle will continue until the liberation of all prisoners, the end of occupation, and the full independence of the Sahrawi Republic.
