France, April 22, 2025 (SPS) – The Freedom March arrived yesterday, Tuesday, in the French city of Vendres after setting off from Toulouse, as part of its journey through major French and Spanish cities before reaching its final destination, Kenitra, in Morocco.
The march was welcomed upon arrival by the French Communist Party and the Association of Republican Fighters for Peace. A reception was held, featuring speeches expressing solidarity with the Sahrawi cause and demanding the release of all Sahrawi political prisoners, particularly the Gdeim Izik group. Attendees also condemned their own government’s support for Morocco’s expansionist occupation policies.
Claude Manguin, representing the march, delivered a speech detailing the reasons behind the protest, its origins, and the stages it has passed through. She shared her personal ordeal after Moroccan authorities denied her the right to visit her husband, a political prisoner held in the notorious Kenitra prison. Her companions also took the opportunity to educate the audience on the history of the Sahrawi cause and the latest developments at all levels.
