Occupied El Aaiún, April 16, 2025 (SPS) – In protest against the policy of systematic medical neglect, Sahrawi civilian prisoner Ibrahim Daddi Ismaili—one of the prisoners of the Gdeim Izik group—has begun a 48-hour warning hunger strike on Thursday and Friday, inside Ait Melloul 2 prison near the Moroccan city of Agadir.
The Sahrawi Prisoners’ Protection Association received a statement from the prisoner’s sister, confirming that his health has deteriorated severely due to the denial of necessary medical care. He suffers from acute intestinal diseases, severe tonsillitis, and unjustified postponement of two surgeries (one on his ear, the other on his left knee).
The same source confirmed that the prison doctor refused to examine him, despite a request from a specialist in intestinal diseases for a full medical report and a special diet tailored to his condition. However, the prison administration continues to ignore these demands without explanation.
This hunger strike is a protest against medical neglect and the deliberate delay in treatment, particularly concerning his required diet and urgent surgeries.
