Paris, 8 April 2025 (SPS) – A group of thugs of the Moroccan Makhzen regime attempted on Monday in the French city of Poitiers to assault French human rights activist Claude Mangin and her accompanying delegation, aiming to disrupt the international march calling for the release of Sahrawi civilian prisoners. The march began on March 30 in the city of Évry-sur-Seine, heading towards Morocco.

Ali Ibrahim Mohamed, a member of the organizing committee of this international march and in charge of media, told APS that "as expected, the Moroccan regime's thugs tried to attack the march in Poitiers and stormed the city's social and cultural center, which was hosting a photo exhibition of the prisoners of the Gdeim Izik camp, as well as an event marking the march's arrival in the city. The center also held a discussion on the human rights situation in occupied Western Sahara and Sahrawi political prisoners, along with raising awareness about the Sahrawi cause."

According to the spokesperson, the center's management was forced to contact French police and local authorities to request protection. He noted that "this serious incident was preceded by other attempts to disrupt the march, despite having obtained an official permit for its organization."

Ali Ibrahim Mohamed condemned the violent actions of the Moroccan occupation thugs in France against this peaceful march, which aims to highlight the plight of Sahrawi political prisoners in Moroccan jails and demand their release.

The same source emphasized that "these hostile actions by the occupation thugs reveal the true face of a regime that uses force, violence, and all dirty tactics to silence voices calling for freedom for political prisoners and the right to self-determination and independence." He added that such behavior will only strengthen the Sahrawi people's resolve to decolonize all their occupied territories.
