Shaheed El Hafed, March 22, 2025 (SPS) – The African Football Confederation (CAF) has clarified that it will no longer allow the wearing of shirts containing political messages, maps, or symbols, following the decision issued by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on February 25, 2025.
In an official correspondence to all member associations, CAF emphasized that shirts featuring political messages, maps, or symbols will no longer be permitted in any of its competitions.
The correspondence stated that national federations are directly responsible for ensuring their clubs comply with this decision. In the event of non-compliance, CAF reserves the right to impose immediate sanctions, including banning non-compliant shirts or requiring their modification before matches.
This decision brings a definitive end to the issue surrounding the shirts of Morocco’s RS Berkane, which must now comply with CAF’s regulations.
