National Council, January 22, 2025 (SPS) - The Sahrawi National Council received toda Wednesday, a delegation from the Swiss Parliamentary Group for Solidarity with the Sahrawi people, which is visiting the institutions of the Sahrawi state.
The Swiss delegation, which includes federal parliamentarians along with the chairperson of the Swiss Committee for Solidarity with the Sahrawi People, was welcomed by Mr. Hamma Salama, a member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, president of the National Council, along with members of the National Council bureau.
During the meeting, the Swiss delegation was informed about the pioneering Sahrawi parliamentary experience amid the liberation struggle, and the significant achievements made in legislative and institutional building of the Sahrawi Republic.
The National Council organized a special session to welcome the parliamentary delegation, during which the president of the National Council expressed appreciation for the visit, highlighting the interest and solidarity of the Swiss parliamentary group with the Sahrawi cause.
He emphasized the role of regional and national European parliaments in defending the Sahrawi cause, especially regarding the respect of the European Court's rulings, which affirmed in its historic judgment that the occupied Western Sahara cannot be included in any trade agreements or fishing agreements between the European Union and Morocco.
It is worth noting that the Swiss parliamentary delegation is on a work and solidarity visit to the institutions of the Sahrawi state, accompanied by the representative of the Front in Switzerland and the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva, Mr. Oubi Bushraya Bashir.
