Boujedour (Refugee Camps), 5 January 2025 (SPS) - The representative of the Polisario Front to the United Nations and the coordinator with the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO), Mr. Sidi Mohamed Omar, confirmed this Sunday evening in wilaya of Boujedour that the United Nations "still considers the Western Sahara issue a case of decolonization."

The Sahrawi diplomat stated in a comment to the press on the sidelines of the international conference of solidarity with the Sahrawi people, "This recognition of the Western Sahara issue as a case of decolonization is a significant achievement for the Sahrawi people. This right has never been a gift or a concession from anyone; it has come through the sacrifices, resistance, and struggle of the Sahrawi people."

On another note, he considered that "the peace process led by the United Nations in Western Sahara is completely paralyzed due to Morocco's obstruction, which always bets on entrenching the colonial situation in the occupied territories of the Democratic Arab Sahrawi Republic."

The representative of the Polisario Front to the United Nations reiterated the Sahrawi people's commitment to the choice of peace, but at the same time, they "remain firmly attached to their legitimate and established right to use all legitimate means, including armed struggle, to achieve their sacred goals, which they will not compromise on now or in the future regarding freedom, independence, and the establishment of the Sahrawi Republic's sovereignty over its entire national territory."
