Algiers, August 09, 2024 (SPS) - The Algerian National Liberation Front Party organized a solidarity symposium with the Sahrawi people at the party's headquarters in Algiers, in the presence of a significant number of party officials and cadres.
During the symposium, participants expressed their strong condemnation of the French government's biased position towards the Moroccan thesis and the policy of expansion in Western Sahara, stressing that the old-new position taken by France will not change the legal nature of the Sahrawi issue.
In the opening speech of the symposium, the Secretary-General of the National Liberation Front Party, Mr. Abdelkrim Benmbarek, renewed the steadfast Algerian position supporting the liberation issues, describing this position as a trust passed down through generations, because it is derived from the rooted values and principles of the Algerian people who have waged a bitter struggle so that Algeria remains free and independent.
The Secretary-General of the FLN Party pointed to the continuation of solidarity activities and continuous follow-up of developments in the Sahrawi issue, which is a matter of decolonization, and one of the issues that the FLN Party places at the top of its priorities.
For his part, the Sahrawi Ambassador to Algeria, Member of the National Secretariat, Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar, praised the FLN party's firm position in defending liberation issues, considering it an extension of the historical revolutionary legacy on which the Algerian FLN Party was founded.
The Sahrawi ambassador explained that the Algerian FLN Party, which is considered as a school of liberation, struggle and noble values, is once again recording its positions rejecting colonial policies, and the French colonial policy supporting the Moroccan occupation of Western Sahara.
During the solidarity event, Professor Mohamed Amroun, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the Algerian National Assembly, presented a lecture in which he reviewed the rapid international transformations taking place in the world, in a chaotic manner, that does not respect the law or international legitimacy, and whose logic has transformed the interests of the powerful at the expense of the law, which requires a serious review of the reform of the United Nations and the Security Council.
The lecturer added that the challenges facing the region and the rush of the expansionist regime in Morocco to serve the return of colonialism, will push the region towards more tension and instability. He also pointed out that the French position is not new, and France will continue to maneuver in the region to preserve its interests, while at the same time being biased towards its ally, the Moroccan expansionist regime, which is a tool to serve colonialism in the region.
