Shaheed Al-Hafid, July 30, 2024, (SPS) - The Permanent Bureau of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front strongly condemned, in a communiqué that concluded its meeting today, the recent French position that openly supports the expansionist war of the unjust Moroccan occupation against the Sahrawi people, which aims to deprive the Sahrawi people of exercising their inalienable right to self-determination and independence, which is guaranteed by all international charters and laws and recognized by all bodies, especially the United Nations.

The Permanent Bureau of National Secretariat stressed the responsibility of the United Nations to enable the Sahrawi people to exercise their right to self-determination, respect and implement international legitimacy with the aim of liquidating colonialism and ending the occupation of Western Sahara, denouncing in the strongest terms the recent French position openly supporting the expansionist war of the unjust Moroccan occupation and supporting the “autonomy” that aims to deprive the Sahrawi people of exercising their inalienable right to self-determination and independence, which is guaranteed by all international charters and laws and recognized by all bodies, especially the United Nations.

The communiqué added, "France, which has never abandoned its colonial and expansionist approach, has continued to obstruct the efforts of the international community to find a peaceful and just solution to decolonize Western Sahara. What it has done today confirms its premeditated intention to deprive the Sahrawi people and undermine their inalienable right to freedom and independence and expose the region to threats and instability. Therefore, France is no longer qualified to belong to the MINURSO mission after its departure from international legitimacy due to its blatant and biased position towards the Moroccan proposal, which was confirmed by the letter sent by the French President yesterday to the King of Morocco."

The Bureau expressed its appreciation and gratitude, in the communiqué that concluded its meeting, chaired by the President of the Republic and Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, to sister Algeria, highly appreciating its condemnation of the recent French position, which confirms its constant keenness to support just causes and reflects its firm position in defending the legitimate and inalienable right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and independence.

The Bureau also expressed, in the context of its evaluation, its appreciation for the heroic actions of the Sahrawi People's Liberation Army fighters against the occupation forces entrenched behind the wall of humiliation and shame, saluting the masses of the Sahrawi people in the occupied territories for their resistance and steadfastness in the face of the brutal Moroccan occupation, especially the Sahrawi civilian prisoners, starting with the heroes of Gdeim Izik Group. It also appreciated all the efforts of the masses of the Sahrawi people in various areas of action and struggle in steadfastness and defiance for more giving and readiness to sacrifice until sovereignty is completed and the occupation is expelled.

The Permanent Bureau denounced the dangerous escalation in the occupied territories pursued by the Moroccan occupation authorities within the framework of the settlement policy and the deprivation of citizens of their rights and the seizure of their lands and properties.

In conclusion, the Permanent Bureau calls on all Sahrawi masses in all their locations to continue their steadfastness and struggle, and to preserve national unity, to confront the brutal Moroccan occupier and his agents to thwart their plans to legitimize the occupation and undermine the Sahrawi people's right to freedom and independence.
