Shaheed El Hafed (Refugee Camps), 23 April 2024 (SPS) - A delegation from German political organizations concluded a solidarity and fact-finding visit to the Sahrawi refugee camps, pledging to advocate for the Sahrawi cause in international forums.
The delegation visited various national institutions and wilayas to assess the political and humanitarian situation of Sahrawi refugees, gaining insight into the work and progress of several institutions in the Sahrawi state.
Members of the delegation, representing more than ten German organizations, committed to working towards advocating for the Sahrawi cause in international forums, particularly within the German federal and state arenas.
The delegation embarked on a solidarity visit to the Sahrawi refugee camps a week ago, conducting several meetings with local political, human rights, social, and humanitarian entities. They also met with representatives of popular organizations and Sahrawi civil society entities.
On Saturday, the delegation was received at the Embassy of the Sahrawi Republic in Algiers by the member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, Ambassador Abdel-Kader Taleb-Omar. He presented to the guests the external work strategy of the Polisario and the Sahrawi Republic regionally, continentally, and internationally, emphasizing the importance of international solidarity in advocating for the legitimate rights of the Sahrawi people in self-determination and independence.
In this context, the Sahrawi diplomat addressed the legal battle waged by the Polisario Front before international courts since 2012 to protect the Sahrawi natural resources and halt the looting campaign led by the Moroccan occupation state and some multinational companies in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.
