Washington (US), 27 March 2024 (SPS) - The United States of America has reiterated its support for the United Nations' efforts to reach a fair, permanent, and mutually acceptable political solution based on the resolutions of the UN Security Council.
This came during discussions about Western Sahara and the United Nations' policy in the region following the signing of the General Budget Law for the remaining months of 2024 by President Biden on Saturday, which was approved by Congress. The law included a separate section on Western Sahara, distinct from the Moroccan occupying state.
The law called for the Secretary of State to continue supporting the United Nations' efforts to achieve a fair, permanent, and mutually acceptable political solution based on the resolutions of the UN Security Council.
