Shaheed El Hafed, March 11, 2024 (SPS) - British international runner Mr. Russ Cook arrived at the Sahrawi refugee camps to witness the situation of the Sahrawi people and their just cause.
The British runner was received by a delegation from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, led by the Director-General of Sports, Mr. Said Ahmed Tahlil. He received an official reception in the Wilaya of Awserd and gave the starting signal for the final of the inter-middle schools cup.
The British runner held a meeting with the officials from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, where he expressed his happiness at being chosen as an ambassador for the sports event, Sahara Marathon, and expressed his readiness to work on mobilizing participants for this event.
The British runner is on a 322-day foot journey that began in South Africa and has taken him through several African countries. His journey will continue to other countries, carrying with him a message of peace and tolerance.
