Sahrawi Minister of Public Health received by his Algerian counterpart

Algeria, February 20, 2024 (SPS) - The Algerian Minister of Health, Mr. Abdelhak Saihi, received the Sahrawi Minister of Public Health, Mr. Salek Baba Hasanna, accompanied by the Sahrawi Ambassador to Algeria and a member of the National Secretariat, Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar.

The meeting discussed cooperation relations between the two countries and the prospects for their development, especially in the field of health, where the Algerian Minister of Health expressed full readiness to provide support and assistance in this regard.

The Algerian Minister explained that the Algerian health institutions have significant capabilities and are able to meet the required needs, such as providing training for Sahrawi doctors and technicians, medicines and medical missions.

For his part, the Sahrawi Minister, Mr. Salek Baba Hasanna extended his thanks to his Algerian counterpart and, through him, to the Algerian people and government, for the supportive and steadfast positions of the Sahrawi people, making a presentation on the reality of the health system in the Sahrawi Republic, and the efforts made to promote this sector, despite the refugee conditions.

The Sahrawi Minister also pointed out the concerns recorded in this aspect, as a result of some difficulties and fluctuations in the humanitarian support provided by some humanitarian organizations, focusing on the importance of training, developing local laboratories, and providing some necessary medicines and technical equipment.

Mr. Salek Baba Hasanna praised the support and cooperation of officials and doctors of Algerian health institutions in Tindouf, Algiers, Oran and Bechar.

The two parties agreed to form a joint coordination body in the field of health that will follow up on various aspects of cooperation related to this field.

During this meeting, the two parties also agreed to form a joint working team from the two ministries to coordinate and follow up on various aspects of this cooperation.

The meeting was attended by a number of directors and advisors of the Algerian Minister of Health, in addition to the First Secretary of the Sahrawi Embassy in Algeria, Mohamed Al-Sheikh.
