Dar es Salaam (Tanzania), December 7, 2023 (SPS) - The Minister of Trade, Mr. Bashar Ahmed Ammi Ommar, participated on Wednesday and Thursday in the 12th meeting of the Council of Ministers of the African Continental Free Trade Area, which was hosted in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The 12th meeting of the AfCFTA Council of Ministers discussed the report of the Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers of the African Continental Free Trade Area for the year 2023. It also discussed the progress of the Protocol on the Digital Trade and the Protocol on Enhancing the Participation of Women and Youth in African Trade, in addition to the Investment Protocol that will be submitted to the heads of state and government of the African Union for approval.
The meeting elected a new bureau for the AfCFTA Council. It also made some updates to the Protocol on Digital Trade and the Protocol on Women and Youth in Trade.
During the meeting, the Minister of Trade was accompanied by the Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Sahrawi Republic in Tanzania, Mr. Alwali Dadi Ramdan.
