The President of the Republic congratulates his Mauritanian counterpart on the occasion of his country’s Independence Day

Bir Lahlou (Liberated Territories), November 29, 2023 (SPS)- The President of the Republic and the Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, congratulated his Mauritanian counterpart, Mr. Mohamed Ould Sheikh Al-Ghazouani, on the occasion of the sixty-third anniversary of his country’s independence, which falls on the 28th of November.

“The Mauritanian people commemorate the sixty-third anniversary of national independence, and in my own name and in the name of the people and the Government of the Sahrawi Republic, I extend, on this occasion, to Your Excellency, and through you to the brotherly people of Mauritania, my warmest congratulations and most sincere wishes, wishing Your Excellency good health and well-being, success and prosperity in your duties, and for your people and your brotherly country, the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, further progress, advancement and prosperity,” said President Brhim Ghali in his congratulatory message.

The President of the Republic added that this immortal day came after a long path of resistance and struggle undertaken by the Mauritanian people for emancipation and freedom from the bondage of colonialism and dependency and to enter a new era of free and dignified living within independence and national sovereignty.

“We are fully confident that the sisterly Islamic Republic of Mauritania, under your wise leadership, will move forward on the path of construction, progress and prosperity to occupy its rightful place among peoples and nations,” stressed the congratulatory message.

President Ghali affirmed to his counterpart, President Mohamed Ould Sheikh Al-Ghazouani his pride in the distinguished relations between the Sahrawi people and their Mauritanian brother, based on brotherhood, friendship, neighborliness and a common destiny, stressing his determination to consolidate them and enhance cooperation and coordination between the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and the Sahrawi Republic in a way that serves peace and stability in the region and the world.
