Kick-off of Spanish educational film festival at the Sahrawi Embassy in Havana

La Havana, February 05, 2020 (SPS) - The organizers of the International Festival of Spanish Educational Cinema have chosen the Sahrawi embassy in the Cuban capital, Havana, to kick off this event, which was attended by the ambassador Sahrawi in Cuba Mr. Malanain Tgana who highlighted the role of cinema in transmitting the voice of the people, welcoming the gesture of solidarity with the struggle of the Sahrawi people and their cause.
The International Festival started with a host of Cuban, Spanish filmmakers and members of the Sahrawi embassy in Cuba.
In his speech, the president of the festival, Giuseppe Ripoll announced that the next edition of the festival will be organized at the Saharawi refugee camps in Smara, in solidarity with the Saharawi people and their cause.
In an address read by the Sahrawi diplomat Mr. Mohamed Ali Salem, from the Sahrawi embassy in Cuba, affirmed that "the cinema is a noble message of solidarity of the peoples of the world".
The Sahrawi embassy also mentioned the struggle of the Saharawi people and their struggle by various legitimate means to wrest their right to freedom and independence. SPS
