Djanet (Algeria), April 16, 2016 (SPS) - A regional conference on “developments of the Sahrawi cause” will be held Sunday in Djanet (Ilizi), Algeria, by the National Algerian Committee of solidarity with Western Sahara” to “assess the latest developments of this issue and security challenges resulting from these developments,” according to organizers.

Ministry of Occupied Territories and Community Abroad condoles family of Shaheed Ibrahim Sikka

Shaheed El Hafed, April 16, 2016 (SPS) – The Ministry of Occupied Territories and Community Abroad sent Saturday a message of condolences to the family of Shaheed Ibrahim Sikka who died Friday in the Moroccan city of Agadir as a result of torture by the Moroccan security forces.
The Ministry presented the condolences to the family on behalf of the Sahrawi government and people, considering their son as a hero who was a symbol for courage and defiance against Moroccan occupation.

President of Republic urges UN to take “concrete measures” regarding “dangerous development” in Western Sahara

Foreign Minister calls on UN Security Council to set a date for the referendum and ensure that MINURSO exercise its full competences

Washington denounced persistent use of torture by Moroccan authorities in occupied Sahrawi territories

Washington (U.S.A), April 14, 2016 (SPS) - The use of torture and resort to arbitrary arrests by Moroccan authorities remain widespread in the occupied Sahrawi territories, denounced Wednesday the U.S. Department of State in its annual Report of Human Rights Practices in the World.
The document, devoted to Western Sahara, and which traces the violations of rights in the occupied territories in 2015, reports the proliferation of “inhuman and degrading treatment” on Sahrawi prisoners.

International Red Cross organizes information day in Health Complex "Bachir Saleh"

The information day has focused on explaining the work carried out by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and rehabilitation services, orthopedics, physiotherapy for mine victims of war.

AU’s advisory opinion on respect of human rights in Western Sahara broached by Khadad in Moscow

Moscow, April 13, 2016 (SPS) - The African Union’s advisory opinion, calling to respect human rights in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, and condemning the illegal exploitation by Morocco of Sahrawi natural resources, was examined in Moscow by the Sahrawi coordinator with MINURSO (United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara), M’hamed Khadad, and the Russian official Vasily Kuznetsov. 
 

Danish companies criticised for investing in occupied Western Sahara

Copenhagen (Denmark), 13 April 2016 (SPS)–  Copenhagen post newspaper wrote in article published Tuesday that at least seven banks and 20 pension companies from Denmark are investing in companies which, against international law, are taking part in the extraction of natural resources from Western Sahara.
 

Saharawi people hope that Ban Ki Moon statements will result in "real decisions"

Algiers, April 13, 2016 (SPS) - The Saharawi Ambassador in Algiers, Bouchraya Hamoudi Bayoune, said Tuesday that the Saharawi people hope that the statements of Secretary General Ban Ki Moon during his last visit to the Saharawi territories will lead to "practical and effective decisions "that allow Sahrawi people to exercise their right to self-determination.
