Second anniversary of Gdeim Izik Camp: Saharwi people are determined to recover their rights

Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), Nov 8, 2012 (SPS) -The President of the Republic and  Secretary General of Frente Polisario, Mohamed Abdelaziz, on Thursday reaffirmed "the Gdeim Izik camp reflects determination of the Saharawi people to continue its resistance to recover their legitimate rights to freedom and independence."

 

In a speech to mark the second anniversary of the dismantling of the protest camp of Gdeim Izik, President Mohamed Abdelaziz reiterated "the determination of the Saharawi people to fight by all legitimate means to recover their rights to liberty and independence."

 

"The intransigence, arrogance and intimidation which Moroccan regime uses are only signs of failure that have always accompanied the invasion and colonization throughout history," noted the President.

 

"The Saharawi people categorically reject the Moroccan autonomy proposal," said the President, adding that "any solution not taking into account the right to self-determination of the people of Western Sahara is doomed to failure."

 

The President said that  Gdeim Izik reflects the unity of the Saharawi people around the objectives of their sole and legitimate representative, the Polisario Front for the recovery of independence on the entire territory of Western Sahara.

 

The protest camp of Gdeim Izik near occupied El Aaiun dismantled on 8 November 2010 by the Moroccan occupying forces who fired live bullets on residents of the camps causing several deaths, injured  and hundreds of arrests and disappeared . (SPS)
