AU condemns Morocco obstruction of Ban Ki-Moon visit to Western Sahara

Submitted on

Addis Ababa,  February 02, 2016 (SPS) .- The ordinary 26 AU summit of Heads of State and Government condemned Moroccan obstacles to hinder the expected visit of Secretary General of the United Nations Mr. Ban Ki-Moon to Western Sahara and neighboring countries to boost the peace process.

The Secretary General of the UN decided to make this tour a few months ago to break the impasse and obstruction of Moroccan intransigence policy that tries to evade the agreements signed with the Saharawi party, but the Moroccan government continues to adopt a policy of abuse to obstruct and delay the Secretary General's visit to a territory that is under the responsibility of the United Nations.

African condemnation comes in the context of the concern that has Africa and international community to the challenge of Morocco to international resolutions concerning Western Sahara. SPS
