Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) 25 May 2023 (SPS) - The Embassy of the Sahrawi Republic to the African Union and Ethiopia participated this morning, Thursday, in the celebrations commemorating the 60th anniversary of the founding of the African Union at the Union's headquarters in Addis Ababa.
The celebrations began in the presence of the Ethiopian Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed, the President of the African Union, the President of the Republic of the Comoros, Azali Assoumani, and the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki, in addition to the Ministers of Youth, Sports and Culture of the Member States, and representatives of their diplomatic corps.

The celebrations marked by emphasizing on the symbolism of the event, and the importance of the goals that the African Union aspires to implement within its agenda and various programs, and stressing the need to invest in African youth who represent the future and destiny of the continent.

The celebrations of the Africa day were attended by the Sahrawi Minister of Youth and Sports, Hasnito Shbalal, along with the permanent representative of the Sahrawi Republic to the African Union, Lamen Abaali, the deputy head of the Sahrawi mission, Ambassador Malainin Lakhal, the cultural and media attache, Wadadi Salek, and the central director of youth in the Sahrawi Ministry of Youth and Sports Jalihenna Mohamed Mustafa.
On the sidelines of the event, the Sahrawi Republic organized an exhibition on the occasion of Africa Day, in a public exhibition, attended by a group of African diplomatic missions accredited to Ethiopia and AU. The exhibition was an opportunity for the Sahrawi permanent representative to make several press interviews with Ethiopian media who attended the event in order to raise awareness of the just cause of the Sahrawi people.
