Bah El Mad Abdellah presents his credentials to the President of Botswana as Ambassador designate of the Sahrawi Republic

Gabroni (Botswana) May 24, 2023 (SPS) - Mr. Bah El Mad Abdellah presented today, Wednesday, his credentials to Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi, as Ambassador designate of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic to Botswana.
His Excellency Dr. Mokgweetsi Masisi said, during the ceremony of credential presentation, “Botswana welcomes and congratulates the new representative of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic Mr.Bah El Mad Abdellah”, adding that Botswana and Western Sahara have a long established relationship founded on shared values of mutual respect and the rule of law.
He also recalled that Botswana recognizes Sahrawi Republic as a sovereign state and a full member of the African Union including the International community, adding that “Botswana rebuffs any attempt to undermine the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of the Sahrawi people of and its country”.
For his part, the Sahrawi ambassador expressed to the Botswana President the greetings of his brother, President Brahim Ghali, and the appreciation of the Saharawi people for the firm and strong position expressed by Botswana to the Sahrawi cause in all international forums.
The ceremony of presenting the credentials of the Sahrawi ambassador took place in the presence of Dr. Lemogang Kwape, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and advisors to the Botswana Presidency.
It’s worth mentioning that the SADR and the Republic of Botswana have excellent bilateral relations that began with Botswana's recognition of the SADR in 1982, and were reinforced by the opening of a Sahrawi embassy in the capital, Gaborone, in the summer of 2019.
