Occupied El-Aaiun, 26 March 2023 (SPS) - Moroccan occupation forces have targeted Sahrawi blogger and journalist Al-Salha Muhammad Al-Bashir, and violently beat her, causing her arm, leg and back injuries of varying severity.
Al-Salha Muhammad Al-Bashir, a correspondent of the Sahrawi National Television, said in a statement posted on social network that she was attacked by military officers and civilian members of Morocco's intelligence services while leaving her home in occupied El-Aaiun, as herself and her home were placed under surveillance.
The Sahrawi blogger added that "Moroccan tormentors subjected her to physical and verbal aggression in the street, and to racist practices against her Sahrawi identity, along with humiliating actions."
Following the aggression, the Sahrawi journalist shouted political slogans in support of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), triggering a wave of solidarity from a group of citizens and Sahrawi passers-by, who denounced the attack against her because of her media activities and her position in favour of Western Sahara people' right to self-determination and independence.
