President of Republic deplores double standards in dealing with conflicts at international level

Birlahlou, November 2022 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, called for an end to "the policy of double standards, discrimination and unjust and shameful differentiation in the treatment of issues and conflicts at international level.
In a letter addressed to the leaders and activists of the Turkish Patriotic Party on the occasion of its XI General Assembly which ends on Monday, Brahim Ghali also affirmed that "the Polisario Front only asks for the application of international legitimacy on clear and solid bases, far from the hegemony and diktats imposed by the imperialist powers," in reference to the Sahrawi issue.
In this sense, he recalled that the status of Western Sahara is clearly reflected in successive resolutions of the United Nations.
The Sahrawi issue is a question of decolonization, whose solution necessarily involves the organization of a referendum to allow the Sahrawi people to exercise their inalienable right to self-determination and independence, like all peoples and colonized countries, underlined the President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front.
"The Sahrawi people must exercise their right to self-determination," he insisted.
From the point of view of international law, Western Sahara remains a non-self-governing territory where Morocco exercises its power as an occupying power.
Included since 1963 on the list of non-self-governing territories, and therefore eligible for the application of UN General Assembly resolution 1514 on the granting of independence to colonized countries and peoples, Western Sahara is the last colony in Africa, occupied since 1975 by Morocco.
