Sahrawi delegation holds meetings in Norway

Oslo (Norway), 30 October 2022 (SPS) - A Sahrawi delegation led by member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, in charge of Europe and the European Union, Mr. Ubi Bushraya Bashir, accompanied by the representative of the Polisario Front in Norway, Ms. Senia Bashir, has held official meetings in the Norwegian capital, Oslo.

The delegation began with meetings at the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The delegation also had a meeting with parliamentarians from the two major Norwegian parties, the ruling Labor Party and the opposition conservative party. The delegation met with leaders of the Norwegian trade union LO, as well as with the elected leadership of the youth of the ruling Workers' Party, and Norwegian civil society bodies.

In a statement to SPS, Ms. Senia Bashir affirmed, "this visit is part of the efforts undertaken by the Sahrawi diplomacy to enhance international solidarity with the Sahrawi cause, and to explain the situation of the Sahrawi people under occupation, after the dangerous drifting that Morocco pushed the region to by continuing its refusal to cooperate to implement the provisions of the UN-AU peace plan," noting that "Norway is a friendly country for the Sahrawi people and has outstanding positions, especially with regard to supporting the right of self-determination and protecting the sovereignty of the Sahrawi people over their natural resources."
