Submitted on

Rabat (Morocco), 29 October 2022 (SPS) -  An officer of Tiflet 2 prison, east of the Moroccan capital, Rabat, on Friday physically and verbally assaulted Sahrawi civilian prisoner of the Gdeim Izik group, Sidi Abdallah Ahmed Sidi Abhah.
The sister of the Sahrawi civilian prisoner informed the Association for the Protection of Sahrawi Prisoners that she had received a phone call from him and he told her about what prison officer Tariq Laaraj had committed deliberately against him by insulting, cursing, and kicking him in front of his prison cell.
The reason for this assault was due to the request of the Sahrawi civilian prisoner to meet with the director of the local prison, Tiflet 2, to demand the lifting of all forms of racial discrimination and the denial of basic rights he suffered of inside the prison, especially the right to treatment, after he was prevented for the sixth consecutive time from conducting the necessary medical examinations outside the prison.
