Creation of Colombia-SADR Parliamentary Friendship Group

Bogotá (Colombia), October 20, 2022 (SPS) – The Parliamentary Friendship Group between the Chamber of Deputies of Colombia and the Saharawi National Council (Parliament) created, on Tuesday in the Colombian capital of Bogotá, according to sources from the Saharawi embassy in the Latin American country.

The creation ceremony of Colombia-SADR Parliamentary Friendship Group was attended by the ambassador of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), in charge of Latin America and the Caribbean, Mohamed Zrug, the Algerian ambassador to Colombia, Ahmed Hachemi, the Colombian ambassador to Spain, Luis Guillermo Plata Páez, as well as representatives of human rights organizations from Colombia and Spain, and members of the Colombia-Saharawi Republic Parliamentary Friendship Group.

The participants praised the initiative, as well as the role of Algerian diplomacy in defending the right of peoples to self-determination, in accordance with the principles of international law, and its call for respect for international legality.
