During the state visit, Ghali meets South African Solidarity Movement with the Sahrawi people

Pretoria (South Africa), October 19, 2022 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, met today, with the South African Solidarity Movement with the Sahrawi people, during the second day of his state visit to South Africa.

During the meeting, which took place at his presidential residence, the President of the Republic renewed greetings to the South African Solidarity Movement for its efforts at the level of South Africa in particular and Africa in general.

He also thanked the Solidarity Movement for accompanying the Sahrawi people in their legitimate struggle for freedom and independence, calling on them to work to mobilize more support and solidarity with the Sahrawi people in other countries of the African continent.

Ghali briefed the members of the South African Solidarity Movement on the latest developments in the Sahrawi cause, at all levels, noting that the Sahrawi people are going through an exceptional stage as a result of Moroccan intransigence and their violation of the ceasefire agreement signed in 1991, on November 13, 2020, which led to the resumption of the war between the Sahrawi army and Moroccan occupation forces.

The President of the Republic reiterated to the South African Solidarity Movement that the Sahrawi people will continue their legitimate struggle despite the difficulties and the alliances of colonial powers.

He also added that Morocco is violating international legitimacy in Western Sahara, and is exploiting Sahrawi natural resources in a complete challenge to the international and regional conventions (European Court of Justice, African Court).

At the end of the meeting, the South African Solidarity Movement expressed that it will continue to accompany the Sahrawi people in their just struggle until victory and independence.
