Sidi Omar: Polisario committed to peace but also to defending Saharawi inalienable rights by all legitimate means

Chahid Hafed (Saharawi republic) 3 September 2022 (SPS)- The Representative of Frente POLISARIO at the United Nations, and Coordinator with MINURSO, Dr. Sidi Mohamed Omar, stressed in Twits Today that the Front is committed to a just peace as well as it is committed to defending Saharawi people’s inalienable right to self-determination and independence.
“The Frente POLISARIO is fully committed to just peace, just as it is fully committed to defending, by all legitimate means, the inalienable and non-negotiable right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and independence”, he wrote on his Twitter account.
He further added that “the Frente POLISARIO is ready to cooperate with the United Nations and the PESG in their efforts to achieve a peaceful, just, and lasting solution based on full respect for the inalienable and non-negotiable right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and independence.”
It should be noted that the Personal Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Western Sahara, Mr. Staffan de Mistura, is visiting the Sahrawi refugee camps starting today, Saturday, where he held talks with the head of the Saharawi Negotiating Team, Mr. Jatri Adoh, at the guest house in Chahid Hafed, Saharawi refugee camps.
The talks were held in the presence of the Minister of Cooperation, Ms. Fatima El-Mahdi, and the Representative of the Frente Polisario at the United Nations, and Coordinator with MINURSO, Dr. Sidi Mohamed Omar.
The UN envoy arrived to the camps at dawn today to start a visit to the region, which is his second since his appointment, with the aim to deepen consultations with the parties concerned with the conflict in order to find a solution to the conflict in Western Sahara that can guarantee to the Sahrawi people their legitimate right to freedom and self-determination.
The visit to the Saharawi camps will last for two days, as it will lead the UN official to visit many national institutions, and hold meetings with groups of young people and women, to conclude his visit with a meeting with the President of the Sahrawi Republic, Mr. Brahim Ghali. (SPS)
